New employees working 30+ hours per week are eligible for benefits. Please contact the Amherst County Human Resources department for more information and benefit effective dates. Please refer to the Enrollment Instructions page of your microsite, or pages 15 through 20 of your Benefits Guide, for more information on how to enroll.
Be sure to also review your group’s custom benefits microsite, that allows for easy, year-round access to benefit information, live chat support, benefit explainer videos, plan certificates and documents, and carrier contacts and forms.
Important Information About Your Enrollment
Amherst County offers an excellent benefits package which includes the following employer paid and voluntary benefits for full-time employees:
– Employer subsidized medical, dental and vision insurance
– Voluntary supplemental health insurance policies through Colonial Life
– Required participation in the Virginia Retirement System plans and a voluntary deferred Compensation Plan
– Employer paid life insurance and optional voluntary life insurance through Securian/ Minnesota Life
– Paid Leave Benefits
– Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) through HealthWorks

During your open enrollment period, a Pierce Group Benefits representative will be available by appointment to answer any questions you may have and to assist you in the enrollment process.

– Enroll, change or cancel your Health Insurance.
– Enroll, change or cancel your Dental Insurance.
– Enroll, change or cancel your Vision Insurance.
– Enroll/Re-Enroll in Flexible Spending Accounts⁺ (Medical Reimbursement and Dependent Care).
-Enroll in your Colonial coverage.
⁺You will need to re-enroll in the Flexible Spending Accounts if you want your account(s) to continue.
