Dental, Vision, & Flexible Spending Accounts

As your employment status changes, you may have options to continue or maintain benefits for yourself and your family. Review the information below to help avoid a lapse in coverage.

If you are currently enrolled in the NC State Health Plan Dental and/or Vision Plan, or enrolled in a Flexible Spending Account through your employer you may be eligible to continue coverage for up to 18 months through COBRA Continuation Coverage. Enrollment materials will be mailed ~45 days after your retirement date.

If you are retiring and eligible for benefits through the NC Retirement Systems, you may have access to dental and vision coverage options designed specifically for retirees.

Supplemental Colonial Life Policies

Your individual voluntary policies through Colonial Life are portable, which means you can maintain your coverage even after retiring.

– Accident Insurance

– Cancer Insurance

– Medical Bridge Insurance

– Term Life Insurance

– Whole Life Insurance

– Other eligible voluntary products

To continue coverage, your payment method must be changed from payroll deduction to either:

– Direct Bill

– Automatic Bank Draft (ACH)
